Craigslist Lamp

I found a fabulous lamp on Craigslist and picked it up from it's (very sweet) owners the other day:

It was described as an Eames era bamboo lamp with heavy copper base.  It needs to be re-wired, and the shade is a little less orange in person (shame) but I think it's going to be a great addition to our living room!

Random Craigslist Finds

Here are some random things I found on Craigslist this week that would be seriously tempting... if I had the space and the money!

Pair of 70’s knoll velvet chairs - $500.  So tempted to go check these out!

I'd have to loose the patent leather in favor of something a little softer than hot pink on hot pink (say velvet or a print?) but I love the pink painted wood!  Hot Pink Louis XVI chair - $595.

Cute Red Vintage Bench - $60, though I'd want to change out the fabric (and it's clearly just been reupholstered).

Maybe it could be reupholstered in one of these fabrics I spotted the other day at Michael Levine, Diamond Foam & Fabrics and Deco Fabrics respectively.

Okay maybe not.  Bears further thought.  I digress.

I'm kind of digging this set of 2 Velvet Sitting Chairs - $75, though they're not usually the sort of thing I go for.  I do love that they're on casters.

Stunning "wine velvet" Armless 10' Sofa - $1000.  Super tempting!!  Again, not usually the sort of thing I'd go for but I love the shape and color combo!  It reminds me of a fabulous sage green velvet armless sofa belonging to a friend of ours in Carmel that I've always admired.

Then over on Etsy, I found this amazing set of Vintage Drexel Pink Velvet Tufted Chairs for $499.99 at Vintage Modern Design.  We have the EXACT same chairs in our sunroom.  Ours are the exact color of chocolate chip mint ice cream - minus the chocolate chips!  I bought them for much less than $500, delivered.  These are seriously adorable though!

A photo of our chairs below - are they not the same?  Maybe not, but very close!!

Do I think it's a coincidence that almost everything I'm lusting after is red or pink?!  Yes.  The fact that they're almost all velvet?  No, that's definitely not a coincidence!  Okay, so maybe not entirely random finds!

I did also find the most amazing bamboo chinoiserie china hutch/ secretary type thing on Craigslist this week, but safari crashed and for the life of me I can't find it again!  Oh well, at $1,000 I couldn't really afford it anyway, or have anywhere to put it!

Desks & Secretaries

I've been on the hunt for a desk for a few years now. At first I wanted a large secretary drop front style with lots of storage. I fell in love with one years ago that has now been discontinued. I can't remember if it was Williams Sonoma Home or Restoration Hardware or somewhere else, but it was from somewhere like that and it was fabulous. Black exterior, red interior. Maybe the other way around. Anyway, it was awesome, and was similar to the one below.

More recently for practical reasons I've been looking more along the lines of a small writing desk with hutch.

This morning as I was on the phone to my husband, talking about how we want to go to Greece and browsing photos of gorgeous hotels there including the gorgeous Ikes Hotel on Santorni.

Then in a photo of one of their rooms I spotted this fabulous desk!

I immediately began a search for one just like it. First stop: Craigslist, where I found this one that was close for around $300.

Then I spotted this cute "Antique Rolltop Desk" for $225, which would be a different way to go.

I continued my search and found this sweet one at JC Penney called the Ashby Writing Desk, $239, the perfect size for our dining room.

I also found this desk by Stanley Furniture for around $1,200.

Which reminded me that I have long loved this Stanley Furniture secretary, also around $1,200 - one day!

Then I had a browse on Former Furniture (which I found via an article in the brilliant Lonny Magazine) which is sort of a cross between Craigslist and 1st Dibs. Some really interesting things including these picks below.

Gorgeous Cyan Chinese Dresser, $3,000.

Amazing Vermilion Secretary Desk, $700.

Green Distressed Desk with Hutch, $1,000.

They also had the stool I've been looking for in gold, for $600.

I also love this Cyan Vanity, the shape and blue lacquer finish are just divine, $700.

Funnily enough this morning when browsing on Craigslist I found a similar desk for $100, so I could attempt to replicate the look, just not sure we have enough room in our apartment!

I'll need a chair too I guess - how cute is this "Eero Saarinen Pink & White Tulip Stool", $175?!
