Loving: Joe Cariati Glass

I've been aware of Joe Cariati glass for a while, but I didn't know until just recently that he was responsible for the gorgeous decanter (see below) in Sex and the City 2!

I've been obsessed with it since I spotted in on the console table in foyer Carrie & Big's apartment (I'm not a huge fan of the show, but it's worth seeing for the fashion alone!).

It's the called Petite Decanter Low Round and while I think the blues are gorgeous the the pink is also a fab option! Want!

Back on the topic of SATC2 (a little late I know), we have a blue velvet sofa in almost the exact same shade as the one in Carrie & Big's living room.  I also love the blue "Lola Ottoman" by Anne Kyyro Quinn, though I worry about it's durability.

Set decoration for SATC is by Lydia Marks, production design is by Jeremy Conway, and you can see more of the apartment at Architectural

More Fireplaces

It's been established that I'm a sucker for a fireplace.  Now that we've covered outdoor, here are a few of my favorite indoor options.

Topping my list is this amazing bedroom and fireplace with a view, via Lonny:

Exposed fireplace at the Rec Center Studio Echo Park, shot by Heidi Ryder

Enormous stone fireplace in the kitchen of Libbey Estate in Ojai, restored by Kathryn Ireland:

The fireplace in the living room of the same house is just as dramatic - love!

I love the look of what I assume is tile on this fireplace.  So fresh!

I can't recall the source of this photo, but this little white stove is adorable!

Wood beamed ceilings and oversized stone fireplace?  I'm in love!  The incomparable Madonna Inn:

I love a wall of stone!

This deluxe bathroom/ gym even has a fireplace!  Soaking in a tub bubbles by a cracking fire?  Now there's an idea!  From the Santa Clarita home of actress Linda Gray:

I have no idea what this is but it's kind of awesome!

Walk in fireplace anyone?  Via Nothing Is Sacred this unbelievably big fireplace (photoshop?) is apparently from the California home of Missy Chandler, wife of LA Times Publisher Otis Chandler.

Loving this mid-century fireplace and "party pit" courtesy in a ranch home via MoModerne. The color scheme isn't working for me but the bones are great!  The bad news is it was scheduled to be demolished shortly after this photo was taken:

A kitchen with it's own fireplace is my ultimate dream!  This rustic kitchen with (controversial) exposed lath in a brownstone in Brooklyn via Apartment Therapy is rather fabulous:

Another kitchen with fireplace in a charming Byrd Farmhouse in BHPO:

You don't even need the fireplace to be working to enjoy it!  Bedroom by Jan Elini:

Stacked books in a non-working fireplace?  Genius!

Outdoor Fireplaces

I do so love an outdoor fireplace!  I need to do more research on how they can be achieved in an environmentally friendly way.  Plus wood burning fireplaces are from what I understand pretty much forbidden in LA, but there is something so magical about sitting around a fire! Particularly if it's adjacent to a body of water - beach, pool, pond, spa, lake, whatever!  Some of my favorite outdoor fireplaces below.

How charming is this?  Love!

Glamorous fireplace by Jay Griffith for a family in Brentwood:

Gorgeous fireplace from the home of designer Billy Lehman of Aeries Development:

Insane infinity pool and fireplace in Malibu designed by Barry Beer, and below it another pool he designed in the Hollywood Hills:

Tranquil Courtyard in A. Quincy Jones' Holmby Hills Brody House:
Fireplace by a pool and spa in Berkeley by Thuilot Associates - divine!

Spanish style outdoor fireplaces and kitchens from two homes in LA, I'm loving the vines and all the hanging lanterns:

Sleek modern fireplace and pool in an Arizona Residence by repp design + construction:

I love the curves on this fireplace, not to mention the built in wood storage.  It makes me want to build an outdoor pizza oven, bad!

Funky fireplace at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs:

I love this oversize rustic brick fireplace, complete with built in potted plants!

How calming does this stunning indoor/ outdoor fireplace setting look?
